Good news for BRO temporary workers: Rajnath Singh

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has authorized a group term insurance plan for casual paid laborers (CPLs) employed by the Border Roads Organisation (BRO). Under this arrangement, the family of a CPL who passes away while performing their duties would receive Rs 10 lakh in life insurance compensation.

All CPLs whom the BRO now employs, as well as those who are hired in the future, will be covered by the program. The Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) will supply the insurance coverage.

The program is a positive development for CPLs, as they frequently operate in dangerous environments. In their passing, it will give their families financial stability.

Building and maintaining roads, bridges, and other infrastructure along India’s borders is the responsibility of the BRO. More than 100,000 people work for the company, many of them CPLs.

The CPLs receive daily pay and are hired on contract. They frequently labor in isolated, hostile locations where there is a chance of mishaps, injuries, and even fatalities.
